Windows - GEOS/GeoWorks Ensemble
1984 Berkeley Softworks released GEOS, an add-on GUI for the Commodore 64. After a stop on the Apple II, it was reborn on the PC in November 1990 as GeoWorks Ensemble. It could multitask specially written apps on a 512KB XT, and was used by America Online for its DOS front end. However, by the time the company shipped its developer's kit, almost everybody had gone to Windows. The company, renamed Geo-Works, is still around, now doing interfaces for PDAs and "smart" cellular phones.

GEOS/Geoworks (NASDAQ:GWRX) was distributed by New Deal, Pointe-Claire, QUEBEC, Canada.
