The Macintosh introduction, a television commercial called
"1984," is considered by some the greatest ad of all time...
Ridley Scott directed this Orwellian nightmare of
tyranny and enslavement, suggesting the Big Brother and IBM were one and the
same. Chiat/Day had difficulty selling it to Apple Computer, but the reluctant client
relented for one spot on the Super Bowl and the Macintosh revolution was begun.
Released with much fanfare January 24, 1984, the Macintosh was the first affordable computer to include a Graphical User Interface. Discontinued October 1, 1985.
The serial number indicates it was made in Freemont California, the 49th week of 1984. (F=Freemont, 4=84, 49=49th week) 1984 is the first year and a rare find.
I also have a FAT MAC with 1 Meg. RAM, no picture because they look the same. Introduced September 10, 1984. Discontinued April 14, 1986, shortly after the introduction of the Mac Plus.
The serial number indicates it was made in Freemont California, the 21th week of 1984. (F=Freemont, 4=84, 21=21th week) 1984 is the first year and a rare find.
